The vast majority of everything I have ever written no longer exists, either because it was intentionally destroyed or just because I made no effort at all to preserve it. Most of it has never and will never be read by anyone, and that’s perfectly alright. I didn’t write it to be read; I wrote it to write it. Sometimes I do write things for other people to read, and some people seem to really enjoy them.
If you’re seeing this post you probably already know who I am. I don’t exactly have a mass audience, or a brand; my audience is usually measured in the low hundreds, my regular readers in the dozens, and most of the content I’ve produced isn’t even publicly visible anywhere. Folks have bugging me for literal years about changing that, about putting my words out in the open for public viewing. I’ve been pretty reticent about doing so – they’re my words, not yours, and you can’t have them – but enough people have asked enough times that I suppose I might as well.
I’m glad that people have enjoyed my writing. I enjoy sharing cool new things that I’ve learned, and I enjoy seeing what other people have to say about them – I often find people who know more than I did, or know different things than I do, or see things from a different perspective than I do, and we’re able to have a fun exchange of ideas.
If you’ve already read my writing before, and liked it, or if you read along on this website and end up deciding you like it later, consider sending a few bucks my way on Patreon. I work a physically demanding job, the hours are long, and the pay, while enough to keep me alive, is not really enough to build much in the way of savings or a future. The more I’m able to bring in from outside sources, the less stressed I’ll be, and the more time and energy I’ll be able to devote to finding cool shit and telling people about it.
